Week of Feb 3-7, 2020

Humanities:

  • Students worked on reading and writing poetry this week.  They will be incorporating their work on enhancing vocabulary to create imagery in their 'I Am Sky' themed poetry.
  • Literary devices (metaphor, simile, onomatopoeia, alliteration, hyperbole)

Math:

  • We are learning to use our fraction work to understand ratios
  • Two Math worksheets are on their way home on Ratios.  We will review these together on Monday and Tuesday.
  • Try watching the MathAntics videos to review fractions, decimals and ratios.

Science:

  • The Sky Inquiries have begun! Almost all students have completed their proposals and started their personal inquiry project. These are based on their carefully formulated question. Students are to become experts on their predetermined topic, and create a game, model or hands on experiment for their classmates. Checklist/criteria will be handed out on Monday, and students will have four more class periods (two doubles and two singles) to plan, collaborate, research and, create. This is enough time to do a great job, depending on approach and focus. Those students who committed to working in a group may want to plan a time outside school to connect with their group over the next two weeks. Alternatively, sharing group work on Drive, and planning/coordinating to work on specific part of a shared task will avoid missing deadlines once you sign up for your presentation date.
  • Students have been adding to their lunar calendar by recording the moon each night this month, as a classmate presents their artwork. We are now half way through, which means... what moon are we on this weekend???
Students, please share the assignment with your parents, have fun with this!
