Week of January 27-31
Humanities:
- Students were assigned a visual journal assignment to complete based on the levels of government. Instructions for the assignment are on last week's agenda.
- The levels of government final test is on Thursday. Students are encouraged to use resources in their red duo-tang to study.
Math:
- Students have been using a number line to record decimals, fractions (mixed and improper) and percents. The focus has been on using and articulating a variety of strategies (pictures, manipulatives, number lines, calculations).
- Many have completed the fractions sheet homework, and with an unscheduled summit meeting at the end of the day, there was no time to assign a new one, so here is a question to work on if you are able. We will review it together on Monday:
Movies are exactly two and a quarter hours long, and youtube videos are exactly one quarter of an hour each. If you watch two and a half movies, how many youtube videos could you watch in the same amount of time? Show your thinking and answer as a fraction.

Wed, Jan 15 Homework Reminder
- Stranger Things, 2 Concluding Paragraphs.
These should be carefully written and succinct with a topic and concluding sentence, and 3 specific examples of how a piece of evidence was used to solve the trophy mystery. Each paragraph should be 5-6 sentences, and have been checked for spelling. You will have one more period to finish up editing these tomorrow. Avoid words like 'could be' and 'maybe'.- There are still several students who have not completed their detailed (academic) SMART goal. These were due on Monday. If you are tracking progress, you should have started and showed the teacher your chart already.
- Science tests went home yesterday for 6-1 and today for 6-2. Please read them over, make corrections, have them signed and hand in to me for a bonus mark. No rush on these.
