Science Inquiry

Science Inquiry basics (Students have a copy of this in a checklist format):

I know I am ready for my presentation because I can:
  • Describe and interpret movement of objects in the sky relative to my topic, and identify patterns and order in these movements.
  • Explain the relative size and importance of my topic in our solar system and the known universe, and teach others about it.
  • Show clear understanding of the emission of light versus the reflection of light.

I have included the following things in my presentation:

  • Information that shows my understanding of movement and organization of the sky in relation to my topic.
  • A clear explanation of the scientific (fact based) significance of my topic in our universe, big or small.
  • Research and planning Notes/Log that show various styles of collecting data (lists, jot notes, diagrams, insights/ideas, vocab lists, project draft or ‘mock-up’, group work calendar with allocated tasks and check in dates).
  • At least three different specific resources and named them in notes.
  • A hands on activity or model for at least 6 peers (supplies included).
  • A well edited, practiced and organized presentation that I am proud of.
