Humanities:
- Students are back at their Charter of Rights and Freedoms project! Students are expected to include explanations and examples of each fundamental freedom and right, and be prepared to present their work to the class. We will also begin work on character development with a writing piece about a 'mysterious creature'.
- Well done on the federal election! Results on Monday.
Math:
- Continuation of Factors, Multiples and Prime/Composite numbers, short quiz on Tuesday or Wednesday (depending timing of student vote activity).
- We started weekly challenge questions this month that are optional for students who have extra time. Have you submitted your weekly challenge responses? We will review them both on Monday.
Science:
- Finishing up with Tree Research pages on four chosen trees.
- Practice with Dichotomous key to identify plants in coulee.
- Vocabulary added, check previous post for updated list.
- Starting Forest Jigsaw activity. Students will work in groups to research one of four topics (Leaf Types and Shapes, Tree Anatomy, Forest Systems, and Tree Trunk Cookies). Students will present their research to each other next week (Oct 28-30).
Art:
- 6-1, Stick painting! Students work collaboratively to design and paint a patterned branch.
- 6-2, Students started 10x10 section of the 'window' grid mural. As a class we decided to create a common background for our tree mural and also to theme each level of the grid by season. It's coming along beautifully!
