October 7-10,2019

Humanities:

  • This upcoming week, students will complete their descriptive paragraphs (due Tuesday) and begin a mini project on the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. This will include research skills, rewording findings to make it personal, and using PowerPoint on Google Drive to put information together. They may do a small exercise as well on vocabulary building

Math:

  • Looking for patterns in the place value system.  
  • Writing lumbers without seeing them on 
  • Review of common multiplication and division strategies for mental math 
  • Homework sheet was given to review place value concepts 
  • Challenge of the week "How many hours are in two million seconds?"
  • Monday Oct 7 - place value and expressing number quiz
Science:
  • Students have done some beautiful work on the Levels of the Forest Assignments.  The artist among us astound me! 
  • All students had the opportunity to give and receive feedback in peer feedback loops on Thursday when the assignment was due.  Late finishers had the opportunity to learn from their peers by seeing examples, offering compliments (stars) and asking questions and advice (wishes).  All required edits should be complete and handed in this Monday Oct 7 unless other arrangements have been discussed with the teacher.

CTF:
  • All students have started the first CTF class and are settled into their class group for round 1 (Approx 15 class periods)
Reminders:
  • Friday Oct 11 - No school for students, Common PD Day
  • Monday Oct 14 - No School, Thanksgiving holiday
  • Return vaccination forms if you have not
  • Photo order forms are due October 8th
